Kangxi
(1654–1722)

Xuanye (玄燁), of the Aisin Gioro clan, commonly known as the Kangxi Emperor (康熙帝) by the era name Kangxi (康熙) of his reign (1661–1722), was the 4th sovereign of the Manchu-led Qing (清) dynasty and 2nd Qing emperor to rule over China proper from Beijing. Posthumously known as Emperor Shengzu of Qing (清聖祖) by his temple name Shengzu (literally "Holy Ancestor"). Transliterated historically as Kang-hee, Kang-he, K'ang-hsi, amongst others.
