Long s

I see that some pages use the long s while others (I am among the latter) use the modern s exclusively. It would probably be useful to establish consensus here regarding which should be used. Ideally, a way of showing long and short or short only (using transclusion or a template) would be helpful-- many modern readers would not want to try reading with the long s...

One other note, the text in some places uses long s with a descender, most commonly in Aesop (for example see Page:Fables_of_Aesop_and_other_eminent_mythologists.djvu/25). If we are using the long s to simulate the printing of the original, it would be important to simulate this as well. As far as I can tell there is no particularly good way to do this. Use of the descender seems to correspond with italics usage, but I haven't looked through the entire book. There might be a few other spots where it appears. --Mkoyle (talk) 20:07, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
