Details covering "Fueling Facilities" on page 11 are as follows: 1. FREMANTLE - NAVAL INSTALLATIONS
Storage Capacity: (all Furnace Oil): (a) 4 - 12000 ton tanks at East Fremantle; (b) 2 - 6000 ton tanks at South Fremantle; (c) 5 - 5000 ton tanks at South Fremantle. Total storage capacity - 85,000 tons. Method of Fueling: Alongside. These tanks are connected to Anglo Iranian pipe lines. One 12" line (furnace oil), one 8" (diesel oil), one 8" (solar oil). The 8" lines are also used for furnace oil if necessary. (Not desirable). Rate of Fueling: Furnace Oil, 420 - 450 tons per hour. Length of Wharf and Depth of Water: Victoria Quay, to which pipe lines are connected is 5,249 foot long with 36 foot depth alongside at M.L.W.M. The pipe lines are laid the whole length of the quay with two feed points at each of the eight cargo sheds. Investigation is now being carried out as to possibility of making furnace oil fuel available at two or three berths on the North Wharf. General: Normally, approximately 180 tons from each 12000 ton tank and approximately 100 tons from the 5000 and 6000 ton tanks would not be available for bunkering, but in an extreme emergency it could be obtained by using the sludge line and by suction hose through the manhole in the tank.
Anglo Iranian and Shell Oil Companies. (Anglo Iranian Management.) Storage Capacity: (a) 1 - 8000 ton tank (furnace oil); 1 - 10000 ton tank (diesel); 1 - 13000 ton tank (furnace oil); 1 - 10000 ton tank (furnace oil). Method of Fueling: Alongside. Three pipe lines: one 12" furnace oil, one 8" (marine diesel), one 8" (solar diesel). Rate of Fueling: Furnace Oil, 420 - 450 tons per hour; marine diesel and solar diesel, 250 tons per hour.
