"Walter Weight, LL.D., succeeded in the beginning of 1543, void by the death of Richard Coren, but way never installed ; for Oxford was erected into an epi- scopal sci>, and this archdeaconry taken from Lincoln and made a part of the new bishopric.

the office in 1 1 40. David was possessed of it in 1145 s ', an( * 2 9*h Sept.
1 1 7 1 * ' . Robert de Bur mi am enjoyed it in 1188 and 1189 55 . Stephen was possessed of it in 1 192 and 1 194 56 . William Blets held it in 1209 s7 . From this dignity
he was made bishop of Worcester in 1218 s . Matthew de Strattox was archdeacon of Bucks in
