Spruces Picea also appeared at 8400 or 8500 ft. Prairie dog Prairie Dog again at Edlowe 8950 ft. Top of divide between S. Platte and Arkansas drainage open and rolling along RR with scattered groves of pines and spruces 9200 ft. alt. 1 magpie Magpies here. Red Gilia Ipomopsis aggregata and Cleome Cleome serrulata here with Potentilla fruticosa Potentilla fruticosa. At Florissant Florissant, Colorado Lark buntings Calamospiza melanocorys, Mt. Bluebirds Sialia currucoides, cliff swallows Petrochelidon pyrrhonota, barn swallows Hirundo rustica, Brewer blackbird Euphagus cyanocephalus, lark sparrows Chondestes grammacus, Flickers Colaptes auratus, Eng sparrows Passer domesticus.

Station 2

Lava dyke at N.E. Cor. of town very badly shattered and weathered breaking into rather flat, irregular pieces, very unstable underfoot and in one place greatly broken, opening up crevices from 2 to 10 ft. wide and as deep, filled to that depth with debris, 80 ft. above creek bed.

Station 1

Fossil leaves at point N.W. of hotel in several strata immediately beneath strata of volcanic ash and sand. Prairie dogs Cynomys at Florissant Florissant, Colorado 8100 ft.

Up first gulch W and N of Station 1.
