FEDERAL AVIATION AGENCY OPERATIONS

For necessary expenses of the Federal Aviation Agency, not otherwise provided for, including administrative expenses for research and development and for establishment of air navigation facilities, and ^oT^l^*,ln°'^„*„ carrying out the provisions of the Federal Airport Act; not to exceed 49 USC 1101 note. $10,000 for representation allowances and for official entertainment; and purchase and repair of skis and snowshoes; $434,300,000: Provided, That total costs of aviation medicine research for the Federal Aviation Agency, whether provided in the foregoing appropriation or elsewhere in this Act, shall not exceed $2,000,0(W or include in excess of 130 positions: Provided further, That there may be credited to this appropriation, funds received from States, counties, municipalities, other public authorities, and private sources, for expenses incurred in the maintenance and operation of air navigation facilities. FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT

For an additional amount for the acquisition, establishment, and improvement by contract or purchase and hire of air navigation and experimental facilities, including the initial acquisition of necessary sites by lease or grant; the construction and furnishing of quarters and related accommodations for officers and employees of the Federal Aviation Agency stationed at remote localities where such accommodations are not available (at a total cost of construction of not to exceed $50,000 per housing unit in Alaska); and purchase of nine aircraft; $120,000,000, to remain available until expended: Provided, That there may be credited to this appropriation funds received from States, counties, municipalities, other public authorities, and private sources, for expenses incurred in the establishment of air navigation facilities: Provided further, That no part of the foregoing appropriation shall be available for the construction of a new wind tunnel.
