A P P A L A C H I A N R E G I O N A L COMMISSION SALARIES AND EXPENSES

For necessary expenses of the Federal Cochairman and his aUernate on the Appalachian Regional Commission and for payment of the administrative expenses of the Commission, including services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 U.S.C. 55a), and hire of passenger motor vehicles, $1,100,000. CIVIL AERONAUTICS BOARD SALARIES AND EXPENSES

For necessary expenses of the Civil Aeronautics Board, including employment of temporary guards on a contract or fee basis; purchase of one aircraft (for replacement only); hire, operation, maintenance, and repair of aircraft; hire of passenger motor vehicles; services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 U.S.C. 55a), at rates for individuals not to exceed $100 per diem; uniforms, or allowances therefor, as authorized by law (5 U.S.C. 2131); and not to exceed 79^|tat^*ii2y^' $1,000 for official reception and representation expenses, $12,000,000. PAYMENTS TO A I R CARRIERS (LIQUIDATION OF CONTRACT AUTHORIZATION)

For payments to air carriers of so much of the compensation fixed and determined by the Civil Aeronautics Board under section 406 of the Federal Aviation Act of 1958 (49 U.S.C. 1376), as is payable by the Board, $63,500,000, to remain available until expended.

C IV I L SERVICE COMMISSION SALARIES AND EXPENSES

For necessary expenses, including services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 U.S.C. 55a); not to exceed $10,000 for medical examinations performed for veterans by private physicians on a fee basis; payment in advance for library membership in societies whose publications are available to members only or to members at a price lower than to the general public; not to exceed $98,000 for performing the duties imposed upon the Commission by the Act of July 19, 1940 (54 Stat. 767); and not to exceed $5,000 for actuarial services ^^^^^^l^^^' by contract, without regard to section 3709, Revised Statutes, as 4i'usc"5. amended; $22,400,000, together with not to exceed $6,100,000, for necessary expenses incurred during the current fiscal year in the administration of the retirement and insurance programs, to be transferred
