Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the URAA (if upheld by the US Supreme Court) would require us to delete all of this content. All of the written works of Mahatma Gandhi became public domain in India on January 1, 2009.[1] These works were already public domain in the United States (since they were all published before 1964, and none of them had their copyrights renewed in the US). However, because India is a signatory to the Berne Convention and because the works were still under copyright in India in 1996 (when the US adopted the URAA), the works are now re-copyrighted in the United States (in many cases until 2055). - A work only had its copyright restored if it would have been in copyright in the US, so works published before 1923 did not have their copyright restored. Any part of this published before 1923 should be fair and clear. Of course, this is not the safest source for those materials, as it is a 1960 publication, and it can be hard to tell what's new and what's not.--Prosfilaes (talk) 00:25, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
- That makes sense. Somehow I don't imagine we would be able to verify publication of most of this material prior to 1923, however.
