Hello,

This also applies to works published outside of USA. See [1]. And actually it is contradictory to Help:Public domain. Regards, Yann 22:40, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

editprotected edit

(Edit this section to get it in the correct formatting (The nowiki tags remove all carriage returns))

MOS violation edit

the </br> is useless, unnecessary, and extremely confusing. Delete.24.65.69.8 00:39, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

The "<br/>" at the top is unusual. I'll ask Yann why he added it. John Vandenberg (chat) 01:44, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I removed the </br> and remplaced it with margin-top: 1em; in the license template. Yann (talk) 09:11, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Please revert your edit with regarding margin-top: 1em;. The extra white space confuses readers and is unnecessary.24.65.69.8 01:39, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Please look at Hatha Yoga Pradipika. You can see practically 3 lines of confusing space between the bottom of the text and the start of the top of the template. This is not the case with other pages in wikisource. Please remove margin-top: 1em;.24.65.69.8 00:52, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
On the contrary, this is much better than when the template is glued to the text. And this is only one line now. Yann (talk) 01:03, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
The space is creating more hurt then help. All other pages on wikisource, and for that matter, other wikiprojects, have category wikitext AFTER the template. Hatha Yoga Pradipika is not any more special. I reverted your change on Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Please remove the space. Or change the protection so I can remove it.24.65.69.8 00:28, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rename to PD-US-expired edit

Rename to PD-US-expired, because now expired before 1924 Shooke (talk) 18:47, 15 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Pages displaying out of date templates edit

Many works using this template still say "This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published before January 1, 1924." (ex: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Stranger_%28Kipling%29 ) Is there any way to get these to update to the new public domain entry year? As new works will now be entering the public domain annually, this will become an ongoing problem without a fix --InexplicableSatsuma (talk) 00:58, 25 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Why does the text need to change? If you would like to be part of the discussion, it has been happening in the Scriptorium. --EncycloPetey (talk) 01:01, 25 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Will head over there then, but, in short, because the work is in the public domain because it was published before 1923, not 1924. If we want to avoid the year entirely we can just say "this work is in the public domain because it was published in |year|" --InexplicableSatsuma (talk) 01:08, 25 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

PD-US and PD/US merger edit

This template has been migrated to use Lua, which significantly simplifies the handling of categorization related to the author's death year, and means the death year can be an optional parameter (rather than mandatory or not supported). Accordingly, the PD-US and PD/US templates have now been merged. (Previous discussion at WS:AN, Module talk:PD and my talk page.) —CalendulaAsteraceae (talkcontribs) 03:47, 2 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
