Mr. Frederic Whyte

Mr. Frederic Whyte, the author and journalist, and biographer of W. T. Stead, has died after a long illness at Djursholm, outside Stockholm, where he had lived for the last few years, telegraphs our Stockholm Correspondent.

Whyte was born in 1867 and educated at Stonyhurst. Besides his biography of Stead, he wrote a memoir of William Heinemann, "A Wayfarer in Sweden" (1926) and several other books. He had worked for Cassell's and Methuen's, and was a contributor to the Encyclopaedia Britannica. In 1916 he married Karin Lilja, of Jönköping, Sweden, and had one son.
