PNEUMATIC ATTACHMENT FOR TROUSERS.

To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, MONE R. ISAACS, a Citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pneumatic Attachments for Trousers, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.
My invention consists of a novel construction of a pair of trousers which are adapted to either sex and for all situations where in easy or resilient seat is desired, such as riders of bicycles, tricycles, &c., require, said trousers having in the seat thereof a reservoir or reservoirs which are adapted to be inflated, all as will be hereinafter set forth, and specifically pointed out in the claims.

Fig. 4 represents a front elevation of another embodiment of my invention hereinafter referred to.

Referring to the drawings, A designates a nether garment in the seat portion B of which is located a pneumatic or inflatable cushion B', the same consisting of the reservoirs C and D, which are separated by the partition E, said, cushion being held in position by the reinforcing piece or covering F, which is secured to the garment in any suitable manner.
The cushion B' has a V-shaped recess in the lower portion thereof, thereby forming a crotch F', from which the partition E extends to the top of the cushion, so as not to interfere with the anatomy of the body at the relative place, while the sections of the cushion, being independently inflated, are not liable to burst, owing to the variable pressure to which they are subject during the motions of the rider of the bicycle, &c.
G designates a tube leading from the top of the garment and inclosed within the latter, said tube having in its lower extremity an outlet leading into both the reservoirs C and D, whereby the latter can be readily inflated, either by the lungs or by a pump, the tube G being secured to the cushion in any suit able manner and having its upper extremity closed by a cap or other suitable device H.
The operation is as follows: When it is desired to inflate the reservoirs C and D, the cap is removed from the tube G, and when the reservoirs have been inflated to the desired extent the cap is replaced, a yielding and resilient seat thus being produced for the wearer, the garment being especially serviceable for bicycle-riders, &c.
In Fig. 4 I have shown the preferred manner of retaining the inflating-tube G in position, the same being held between the goods of which the trousers are composed and the strip K of rubber or other suitable material which covers the tube, and may be secured near its edges to the trousers in any desired manner.
It will of course be understood that the lower extremity of the tube G maybe secured to the reservoirs C or D in any suitable manner, and that, if desired, other means of inflating said reservoirs may be employed.
I may also, if desired, attach to the upper portion of the tube G an auxiliary tube L, which may be thrown over the wearer's shoulders, so that the reservoirs can be readily inflated under all conditions.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is—
1. A pneumatic attachment for trousers, consisting of an inflatable cushion, having a V-shaped recess in the lower portion thereof, thereby forming a crotch, a partition extending from the top of said crotch to the top of the cushion, thereby forming independent reservoirs therein, and an air-supply tube common to said reservoirs.
2. The combination with a nether garment, of an inflatable cushion therefor, said cushion having a V-shaped recess in the lower portion thereof, thereby forming a crotch, a partition rising from the top of said crotch to the top of the cushion, thereby forming independent reservoirs, an air-supply tube having its discharge end common to said reservoirs, and a covering and retaining strip for said tube, attached to said garment.
