first attempt on findinf out copyright for book Propaganda edit
Ansicpl here, I have gathered some infos... For works published in US 1923 through 1963, and depending on whether copyright is renewed or not, there are 2 possibilities: 1) not renewed Then it is in the public domain due to copyright expiration. 2)was renewed Copyright is active for 95 years after publication date, so expires on 2023. ( source: http://www.copyright.cornell.edu/public_domain/ )
On the page http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/renewals.html there are instructions on checking whether copyright was renewed or not. There is no online way to do it for books first published in 1928 (it can be checked for 1950-1978 and some years prior to 1950, but not 1928 - the year in which Propaganda is published). On http://www.copyright.cornell.edu/public_domain/#Footnote_8 it says that less than 7% of books from that age had their copyright renewed. Yet, this is no guarantee. Also, book is listed on Amazon.com and published by Ig Publishing on September 1, 2004 - if that is any kind of hint (probably not, to be honest).

- Actually, you can check it for 1928; the records for 1950-1978 are the renewal records, which come roughly 28 years after publication. I just grep the one big record at Gutenberg, 11800, for works published prior to 1950. Propaganda was listed as renewed, as were a few of his other works, which I've listed on his author page. Other works prior to 1950 are likely fair game.--Prosfilaes (talk) 22:33, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
