Gday The Tetrast. Not sure what to make of the page Pragmatism in the Century Dictionary Supplement as it looks like an excerpt, just one part of a published work, rather than a complete work. This being the case, it wouldn't fit within Wikisource:What Wikisource includes in that form. Is there more of the work to be added? — billinghurst sDrewth 00:38, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
- It's an entry approved and probably authored by Peirce about philosophical pragmatism, which Peirce founded. So it is of philosophical and historical interest. I expect to link to it sooner or later from one or another Peirce-related article at Wikipedia. It's a short piece but it's self-contained. In that, it is unlike a chapter from a novel or a stanza from a poem. I just checked "What Wikisource includes" and I don't see anything to exclude it.
Nobody expects the entire Century Dictionary to be loaded onto Wikisource (even though some or all the Popular Science archive was, whose Wikisource versions omit illustrations, em dashes, and I don't know what else, and apparently can't be edited (probably a good policy on the whole)). The Century Dictionary is huger than the OED. The Tetrast (talk) 01:32, 20 December 2010 (UTC).- The policy on that page talks about working to complete works, not isolated components, and the site would be ugly and navigation would be nigh on impossible. As you have noted, we have tens of volumes of PSM underway, 63 volumes of DNB, and multiple vols. of EB1911, etc. so it is possible to work towards an end. That gives us the choice of starting to look to design and build for the full version of the work where your additions are part of that whole, or removing it from the site. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:26, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
- I've created The Century Dictionary, The Century Dictionary/Volume 12, The Century Dictionary/Volume 12/P, Index:The Century Dictionary Volume 12.djvu, copied the text of Pragmatism in the Century Dictionary Supplement to Page:The Century Dictionary Volume 12.djvu/310, and deleted the standalone page. The text in question can now be accessed and linked to at The Century Dictionary/Volume 12/P#pragmatism.
