Of course you are free to add cases but right now I am concentrating on working with the cases we have. Adding every single supreme court case would be quite a lot of work (about a 20 volume encyclopaedia's worth) We have most major decisions although one could easily make the case for about a dozen more. I would recommend taking that approach. either working to conform the existing cases to convention or doing a few new cases that you think are interesting. I or you or someone will start a United States Supreme court wikiproject which will include a good to do list and a concise but effective style guide. most important is naming. so far most of the cases i've worked on are as follows and i think its a good system. If you have better ideas sharethem:

  • xx v. xxx -main/title page with genereal info and syllabus, use template:USSCcase here
  • xx v. xxx/Opinion of the Court -Opinion of the court
  • xx v. xxx/Concurrence [author's last name] -Concurring opinion, each to have its own page
  • xx v. xxx/Dissent [authors's last name] -dissenting opinion, each to have its own page

and cite your source on the talk page of main page for each case. The /documents should have a template too but the file hierarchy makes it a little difficult. We'll make a second one much like the first template:USSCcase2 until we can figure out how to make the original work both ways. just copying over cases isn't interesting. what makes wikisource interesting is that this stuff can be wikified with links and citations interlinking (eventually).--Metal.lunchbox 06:44, 13 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

The only reason for names in the box is to distinguish between different opinions. not neccessary for Opinion of the court because there is only one. Include the full name of the majority opinion author in the notes section which should be a summary of the wikipedia boilerplate text. that oughta do it. I got that second one done, no problem so use USSCcase on main page and USSCcase2 on the rest. Oh i just noticed if you want to hunt down some docs and upload them there are still some red ones on the list and all of them are pretty interesting esp powell v. alabama. I should have a wikiproject page up by monday. It will basically be a systematic updating of everysingle case on the list through total wikification and integration at wikipedia. Should take a while, but it'll be fun and the law school kids will love us --Metal.lunchbox 07:02, 13 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

notice how Griswold v. Connecticut is divided up with only the sylabus template:USSCcase on the title page? anyways it links to pages in the subdirectory "Griswold v. Connecticut/" like "Opinion of the Court" for all of those subdirectory files (Opinion of the Court, and Concurring and Dissenting Opinions) use template:USSCcase2--Metal.lunchbox 07:11, 13 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you are interested i posted a tentative I rewrite it with a clear outline of some conventions and how we can organize our work, but it's time for bed. meanwhile you can sign up on that page if you like under participants Metal.lunchbox

The good thing about having a template is that you can change it all you want without having to change each page. However if you change the way parameters are used you'll have to change that on the page. For the momment I've decided to start on one case Griswold v. Connecticut. We can work on that and improve it, working on the general issues, deciding exactly how we want the US supreme court cases to look and work. Then we can extend the same process, design ideas to every other case we have. Generally perfecting the template is something to do first as well as the great obvious task of wikifying the case.--Metal.lunchbox 03:15, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Normalization edit

Hello Wabbit98. Please do not remove {{author}} parameters from pages, as you did on Author:William Paterson, even if there is no value for them. These templates are "normalized", which means that they are used exactly the same way on every page. This makes it very easy for a bot to make automated updates or edits, and makes it easy to create a new page simply by copying the format of an existing page. :) —{admin} Pathoschild 22:32:45, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

United States v. U.S. District Court edit

Thanks for putting in all of the work on these Supreme Court text files. I have long wanted a text companion to this page I started. I was wondering if you would consider changing or modifying how you put the wikisource link on the wikipedia page. I would propose using the {{wikisource}} notification icon {{wikisource:United States v. United States District Court}} instead of/in addition to the {{wikisource-inline}} link you are currently using. I have read the comments on the project page. I first stumbled upon wikisource after noticing the icon on a wikipedia page. It jumped right out at me, so to speak. The better we inform others of the availability of wikisource material related to the articles they are reading, the more informed the reader will become. That seems to occur best if they notice the wikisource icon sooner rather than later. Sometimes people just don't linger on a wikipedia page long enough to absorb all of the quality information. Its a tag that has more eyeball grabbing power.Jmcneill2 10:18, 5 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you... edit

Breaking links edit

Hello. You seem to be breaking or removing interwiki links in your recent edits to author pages (see examples of breaking and removal). Please review the diffs in your relevant contributions thus far and fix those you've incorrectly changed. Unfortunately, I don't have the time at the moment to help, but feel free to ask me if you have any questions. Thanks for your work updating the {{author}} template. —{admin} Pathoschild 00:31:35, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Then I am confused I am only following the outline of the new author template that quite a few pages lack. It wants the first and last name spilit it seems and the birth and death years spilit as well. - Wabbit98
Yes, and you have done that perfectly; but you also changed or removed the "commons_link" parameter. For example, in the example diff above, you changed "commons_link = George Eliot" to "commons_link = Eliot, George" (commons:George Eliot exists, but commons:Eliot, George doesn't).
An easy solution would be for me to restore an older version of each page and fix it again (I use a personal script to do most of the work). Have you made any other changes to author pages while you were converting {{author}}? If you'd like, I can install the script for you to use as well, which should make it much quicker and easier. It might also help with other repetitive tasks, if you are able to write new tools with it. —{admin} Pathoschild 10:51:51, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
The most I have done is maybe add the year a Pope was pope from, or clean up the bottom a little since it automatically puts it into the birth and death year Categories, I have remove those from the the list of Categories and added some PD-old when it was needed. Could you do the script thing for me if it is not to much trouble. That would make things go quicker and I will fix up the pages I have done already. Thanks for the help. (You can sign and date your comments automatically by typing "~~~~".)
I've added the script; a "templates" menu should appear on your left sidebar next time you refresh your browser. Please remember that the script is an experimental aid; although it generally works perfectly, there are occasional glitches with dates. As long as you check what changed before saving, you shouldn't have any problems. —{admin} Pathoschild 21:35:34, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

If you have time can you check out the Benjamin Harrison page and see if I did it correctly. Thanks, I want to get this right eventually. Wabbit98 10:30pm PST 14 June 2007

Your changes are still affecting the commons_link parameter. It looks like you're simply removing "|defaultsort =" but not the value. I've fixed that page with the script after restoring the previous version. —{admin} Pathoschild 23:38:49, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Prison Memoirs of an Anarchist/i1 edit

I just added the header. I was just fixing a few things before adding it in. Thanks anyways. :) — LGagnon 05:08, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Regex menu framework updated edit

Hello Wabbit98. I've updated your copy of the regex menu framework from 1.0 to 1.2. The main changes between these versions:

  • a new default tool called "Custom regex" (see documentation), which lets you perform any number of arbitrary search & replace patterns;
  • automatic updates;
  • fixed bug with checkbox checking;
  • cleaned up CSS.

You'll probably need to refresh your browser cache before you see the changes (CTRL+R in Firefox). If you have any comments or suggestions, find glitchy or odd behaviour, or don't want to be told when the script is updated, please leave a message on my talk page. —{admin} Pathoschild 22:39:47, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Hello again. I updated the script in your JavaScript file to fix a problem with new restrictions in MediaWiki. Unfortunately, another MediaWiki change has temporarily broken refreshing; if you want to use it after it breaks, you'll need to try one of these options:
  • Wait a few days or weeks; the server and browser caches will eventually time out.
  • Repeatedly hard-refresh your browser while viewing an edit page on Wikisource.
  • In your preferences under the "Misc" section, add a check mark next to "disable page caching". Next, view the raw JavaScript code, and hard-refresh your browser. You might want to re-enable page caching after that to avoid slow page loading times.
If you're curious, developers recently restricted the use of the URL parameter "&action=raw" to the primary script access point— this means that it can no longer be used with simplified URLs. —{admin} Pathoschild 05:09:30, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Author:Owen Roberts & Author:Owen Josephus Roberts edit

Hi, two pages about the same author, can you merge them, if necessary, and make one a redirect to the other ? Phe (talk) 17:12, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ditto for Author:Benjamin N. Cardozo and Author:Benjamin Nathan Cardozo. Phe (talk) 17:16, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Unfortuneately I did not make these pages, and I do not know how to redirect. Wabbit98 (talk), 11:15pm (PST), 23 August 2010

U.S. Supreme Court case name lists edit

I have a list of cases and citations for each volume BenchBot has uploaded—this could save some time updating the lists over at . As I process each volume, I will upload the list of cases here. If you want me to adjust the formatting, just let me know. At the moment, there are two issues. First, my lists don't have the case's year, but you can get that from the Lists of United States Supreme Court cases by volume on wikipedia. Second, my lists don't show if the case name was disambiguated when it was uploaded. I will work on that when I get a chance. Cheers, stephen (talk) 23:02, 20 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Humanity And Peace edit

I noticed you were working on this, though it not clear who thought to include the poems. The site says, "LOOKING FOR PUBLISHER", which seems to indicate that it only appears at poem.blog.co.in. This could conflict with our scope as a library, not a publisher, and may not be eligible for inclusion. cygnis insignis 10:25, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Handley v. Stutz (139 U.S. 417) edit

Hi, Wabbit98 , the article reads ... in one of the natinal banks at Nashville .... I was wondering if that is a typo? Thank you for your time. Lotje ツ (talk) 06:35, 10 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
