JamAKiska

2011-01 admin

JamAKiska (talkcontribs) • activityGlobal JamAKiska joined WS in March, coming from enWP. Since then, he has amassed 10,000 edits, including edits to the DNB WikiProject. He is a frequent contributor to the DNB pages and PotM. He also contributes cross-wiki at WP pursuant to his work on DNB. From what I have seen, he is a good-natured individual and would not abuse the admin privileges. --Eliyak T·C 19:41, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

  • Support, excellent contributions through DNB, knows the Page: and Author: namespace; participated in multiple PotMs. Participation in the broader Wikisource: namespace/community beyond DNB would be an advantage. — billinghurst sDrewth 02:37, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

  • Question There is not an easy way to broach this given recent events but a review of your SUL shows an editor history starting on another wiki where early edits seem to put the Wiki-Virginity of your ID as questionable. You are completely at liberty to ignore any questions along this line, but I would like to hear about your start on Wikipedia and what has caused you to focus on activities at WS. • Comment: That thread is found on my WS pg…I was researching several WP articles during which time I discovered this resource. As one project came to a close on WP, this opportunity seemed wide open. Historical research has always been an area of personal interest. While proofreading pages, was also able to familiarize myself with WS resources, as a gateway to antiquities. It did not take long to recognize that there was plenty of help that was needed. I have learned quite a bit on the fringe by reading the discussions and developing my skill-sets so as to be able to expand the areas in which I am able to contribute and help others. I have enjoyed the experience as most encounters would be best described as warm and encouraging. If you look at the timeline of my edits you’ll see that while editing and proofreading here, I was also helping with the WP DNB project as there is a great deal of overlap, most notably in the area of disambiguation. My recent WP edits have been along the lines of improving awareness and access to this resource to WPers learning the ropes. Most recently I have been gently expanding WP biographies requesting help. So while the number of WP edits may be fewer in number, many of those edits take advantage of what I have learned while researching in WS. JamAKiska (talk) 03:21, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
