Dutch Wikisource interwiki

Would it be possible that the interwikibots check from time to time the dutch wikisource? 81.11.215.163 12:23, 3 January 2007 (UTC) wolvenraider

How do interwiki bots work for Wikisource? My guess is that most works are given wildly different names in different languages - too wildly for bots to "figure out". John Vandenberg 12:55, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Maybe they want the bots simply to create the symmetric and transitive closure. But even that may not always be canonical, considering differing policies in the various Wikisources.--GrafZahl (talk) 09:57, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Done

Transition all pages from header to header2

There are 16272 pages still using the deprecated header template. These will be transitioned to header2 by Pathosbot using a dedicated AutoWikiBrowser plugin (source code). —{admin} Pathoschild 00:31:18, 04 May 2008 (UTC)

272 pages done. So far it's handling all variations without difficulty (including redundant symbols, overrides, missing parameters, and nested templates with parameters). —{admin} Pathoschild 04:41:12, 04 May 2008 (UTC)
3336 pages done. One mistake when the bot's delimiting code failed; the bot now stops editing when an unexpected error occurs. —{admin} Pathoschild 22:56:07, 04 May 2008 (UTC)
9524 pages done. One mistake by the bot's delimiting code, fixed. —{admin} Pathoschild 00:42:28, 06 May 2008 (UTC)
16272 done; transition complete. —{admin} Pathoschild 08:39:59, 08 May 2008 (UTC)

More headers for Pathosbot

The Awakening: The Resurrection, What I Believe, thanks Sherurcij (talk) (λεμα σαβαχθανει) 20:41, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Please use the recommended title format ("Foo/Chapter X", not "Foo/X"); Pathosbot is still capable of recognizing the chapter numbers. Pathosbot will take care of this tomorrow:
 1. Move all pages to the standard title format;
 2. soft redirect the old titles;
 3. add headers.
{admin} Pathoschild 06:14:37, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
A few days and a year late, but better than never... Sanbeg (bot) and Suicidalhamster added the headers a while back, I standardized the page names, and Pathosbot updated the links and tagged the redirects. Done. —{admin} Pathoschild 07:37:34, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Normalize textinfo

There are 399 pages using textinfo's deprecated and unreadable unnamed parameter format (see category). These should be transitioned to the named parameter format. For example:

Standardize titles and normalize headers: The Confessions of Saint Augustine (Outler)

 • Move the subpages to reflect disambiguation of the top page;
 • Transition the 'override_author' field to 'author' and 'translator';
 • link to the translator's author page, instead of to Wikipedia.

Normalize headers: The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ

The headers on The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ have symbols left over from the header2 transition ("<-" was changed to "-"), a redundant author override, and backlinks to the top page should be merged into the title parameter. Having looked through the pages, simply replacing the header will work fine (carrying over the notes parameter where used):

{admin} Pathoschild 23:13:47, 06 May 2008 (UTC)

Done. I reorganized the pages and Pathosbot regenerated the header values (example, source code). —{admin} Pathoschild 04:47:17, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Normalize headers: The Documentary History of the State of New York

 • Remove HTML formatting from the 'previous' and 'section' metadata parameters.

{admin} Pathoschild 02:10:24, 08 May 2008 (UTC)

Done manually, with various other cleanup. —{admin} Pathoschild 23:51:47, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

1911 Encyclopædia Britannica maintenance one-use bot

This bot will be helping WikiProject_1911_Encyclopædia_Britannica. It's basically just doing some cleanup after a template change. It will be working with all subpages of 1911_Encyclopædia_Britannica. It's tasks are this:

 1. Check for the presence of the template EB1911. Compile a list of those on User:Psychless/Temp under the heading: Needs EB template. I will be dealing with those articles.
 2. Remove the parameter |article=. Change the parameter |nonotes= to |wikipedia="none".
 3. If the template on the article has any parameter except: previous, next, wikipedia, wikipedia2, other_projects, then add it to a list of articles with incorrect parameters. Post that list under the heading: Incorrect parameters, on User:Psychless/Temp.
 4. Some articles use the code <big>J</big>OHN <big>S</big>mith. This outputs: JOHN SMITH. This could be simplified by using the template bbsc. The code would be John Smith. Could the bot do this?
 5. Before the template change, people typed in the value for the |wikipedia= parameter as such: John Smith. Sometimes as: John Smith. Replace this with the name of the page it links to; just: John Smith. Check to see if there are two links: John Smith and George Washington. If there are, do: |wikipedia=John Smith |wikipedia2=George Washington. Make sure you use the name on the left side of the divider (this symbol: | ), not the right, since for some there will be different text on the right side of the divider.
 6. The bot needs to check where the link goes. If it redirects to a different page have the bot replace the |wikipedia= value with the name of the article it redirects to. If it redirects to an article that doesn't exist, add it to a list on User:Psychless/Temp under the heading: noarticle.
 7. On the wikipedia article an entry links to add the template (if the template isn't already on there) entryname.

I hope my directions were somewhat comprehensible. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would do this, as it means many, many, hours of boring work if I must do this manually. Thanks, Psychless 01:50, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Re #1, Am I right in assuming that you want a list of subpages without the template? Does it matter if the pages are placed on User:Psychless/Temp, or is placing them into a maintenance category also acceptable?
Re #3, are there params that we know may be in use? e.g. the "notes" params that was available in the April 2006 version of the template. If there are specific params then we can temporarily alter the template to place subpages that use these params into a maintenance category to be worked on.
I have done a little plumbing to tackle #5, and outlined a task for my bot to tackle those first. I've yet to devise the regex required to fix it, but if nobody objects to the process I will create the category and run it manually until I've fine tuned the regexes. See User:JVbot#EB1911. John Vandenberg 02:28, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
#1: Whatever you would like to do.
#3: You should probably look through the history of the template to find those. I don't remember all the parameters.
Hope I helped a little, Psychless 01:12, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
For part 6, I have written a bot to "cross check" the links between EB1911 and WP; the first set of results can be found here: Wikisource:WikiProject 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica/WikipediaCrossCheck. John Vandenberg 19:51, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Re #4: It would be much simpler to have all the article names to the format JOHN. The mixed size capitals in the article titles were not a part of the original EB11. Eclecticology 10:48, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
I won't perform task #4 if there isn't consensus for that format. Looking at a scanned page, it looks like that format isn't used in the original. —{admin} Pathoschild 09:53:13, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Task #1 (adding template:EB1911) is done, and Jayvdb is working on tasks #6 and possibly #7 (Wikisource/Wikipedia cross-checking). I'm assigning tasks #2, #3, and #5 (template standardization) to Pathosbot. —{admin} Pathoschild 03:11:55, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Running slowly with human supervision at first (see source code ). —{admin} Pathoschild 10:28:44, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Done.
Edits of interest:
 • Abaris (broken template syntax);
 • Abbasids (first "article" parameter removed);
 • Abbasids (bot now removes redundant commas);
 • Acqui (bot now fills in previous/next parameters automatically);
 • Adamawa (there are headerless pages after all);
 • Adoption (first nonexistent parameter);
 • Adoption (bot now replaces template:EB11 and removes 'other_notes' if blank);
The following pages are missing one or more navigation links:
The following pages might be better off with the 'article' parameter (which was removed anyway):
The following pages had three Wikipedia links (I moved one into 'other_projects' for now):
The following pages are using subpage-header or header instead (I skipped them):
These pages seem to have two headers:

Need chapter subheadings thrown liberally around Hadji Murad when someone gets a chance, with proper Next/Previous tags. Sherurcij Collaboration of the Week: Author:John McCain and Author:Barack Obama 21:39, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Just add subpage-header to the sub-pages, as I have done for Hadji Murad/1. Voodoo takes care of the rest, and the voodoo will get better. John Vandenberg (chat) 02:54, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Adding missing headers

About 150 pages here do not have a header. Can a bot do it? Yann 08:02, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

I've taken the opportunity and updated User:TalBot/Missing headers. Note that there are still about a dozen pages of The Mahabharat in the list.--GrafZahl (talk) 09:53, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
