PEKAH. The eighteenth king of the kingdom of Israel. He was originally a captain of king Pekahiah, but he murdered his master and seized the throne. After a reign of about thirteen years he was put to death by Hoshea, the son of Elah. (About B. C. 740.) His name is once used In the Book of Mormon, in a transcription from the writings of Isaiah (II Nephi, 17:1).
