אפטרה f. (פטר, Nif. פטר to part; v. הפטרה) 1) fare- welladdress, homiletic observations made on parting with the host that entertained scholars, toast (in praise of hospitality, charity, support of students &c.). Gen. R. s. 60 R. Y. א׳ לה עבד used the (preceding) text for a toast;, a. fr. -- 2) v. אפטרתא.

אפטרתא f. (v. אפטרה) prop. conclusion, esp. Aftarah, or Huftarah, i e. the prophetic lesson read in Synagogllfח after the reading from the Pentateuch. *אפידרא m. (פדר) stable-floor, or cement formed on the stable-foor by moistening and stamping the dung. Nidd. 28a he burned the corpse בא׳ פידרא ע״ג Ar. (ed. lע״ג אפודרים) over the dung on the cemented stable-ffoor. [Oth. opin. marble-plate, meaning a hard cemented sub- stance, cmp. גלל כלי.]
*אפיוטות m. pl. (פוט) prop. able to talk (sensibly), hence children of about six or seven years. Y. Gitt. V, 447b bot. פרייא א׳ ifyototh (Mish. ib. 8 referred to reads פעוטות q. v.) means little ones (v. פרא). Y. Maas. Sh. IV, 55a וכ׳ א׳ . . . . . לה פתר expounds the subject by analogy with the law concerning minors, forwe read in the Mish- nah &c., v. suprt.

Mets. 39a וכ׳ לדיקנני א׳ we appoint no guardian for the bearded (adults). Y.ib. III, beg. 9a א׳ בה לעשות to appoint another person as an administrator of the hired or loaned otbject. Lam.
