אצבע f. (b. h. =עצבע; עצב, צב, cmp. Job X, 8; cmp. טבע a. טבעת) 1) finger, esp. ndex-finger. Men. 11a א׳ with this (the fourth from the little finger) the measure of a finger is taken; Keth. 5b. Y. Taan. IV, 68d bot.; Lam. R. to II, 2 א׳ מקוטעי (מטיפי) who had their finger cut off (in evidence of devotion to the cause). Yoma I, 7 צרדה א׳; Tosef. ib. 9 explained גדולה א׳ middle finger; cmp. Tanh. Bo, end, expl. אמצעית. - Keth. 71a וכ׳ א נותן הוא he (the husband) puts his finger between. her teeth (and must expect to be bitten), i. e. has to take the consequences of not interfering with her vow in due time. -- 2) any projecting limb resembling the shape of a finger. אצוותא, אצותא f. (אצי, אץ, cmp. חצב a. denom a. אסיתא) trough, kneading trough; also a trough-full, the quantity of bread baked at a time, batch. Targ. Deut. XXVIII, 5; a. e. (also as plur.) Targ. אצטרין, אסטרין, איצ׳, איס׳ [איצטדין, v. preced. end] f (prop. pl. of אצטרא, אסטרא, v. preced., used as sing.) same. B. Kam. IV, 4 (39a) האיצטרין שור Ms. M. (ed. אצטדין, Ms. H. a. R. a. Mish.
