בריאה, ברייה (b. h.) f. (ברא) creation, formation. Gen. R. s. 1; Lev. R. s. 36 וכ׳ שמים לב׳ as to creation (plan), the heavens were the first; as to finishing (ex- ecution) &c. Gen. R. s. , end עולם של ברייתו the creation of the world. Ib. s. 17 man looks ברייתו למקום to where he was created from (the earth), woman . .. ברייתה למקום to where she was made from (the rib); a. fr. -- Mikv. VI, 7 המיים מבריית שהוא כל whatever originates in the water (aquatic plants or animals). -- Macc. 17a, a. fr. אחת חיטה כברייתה one wheat grain in its natural condition, נמלה כברייתה an ant in its natural condition (though small). Ih. נשמה בריית the natural condition of an animated being. -- Nidd. III, 7 הזכר בריית the formation of a male embryo. B. Kam. 94b לברייתו חוזר is changed into its original condition.

בריאותא, בריותא, ברייותא ch. same. Nidd. 47b בריאותה מחמת (or read תא . . .) on account of (his) obesity. Bekh. 45b וכ׳ אתחלא ב׳ it is (unusual) strength which happened to rest in the left hand (and left-hand- edness is therefore no defect), opp. כחישותא weakness.

בריון, ביריון m. (denom. of בירה) palace-soldier, castle-guard, koeper. Ex. R. s. 30 וכ׳ לב׳ משל this is to be compared to a palace-soldier who was drunk &c.; Yalk. Esth. 1056 ללבריון (read לב׳). - Pl בריונים, ביר׳. Ex. R. l. c. וכ׳ שלו ב׳ his palace-guard sneered at his purple cloak. -בריונות־. Mekh.
