חרחבינא, חרחבינה m. (a comp. of חרחרר=חר. too bore, sting, v. גחרר, a. בן, v. בינא II, בינתא I) a hair- like creeper, creeper on palmtrees (cmp. חרגינין, הרדופנין). Tosef. Shebi. V, 3 הרחבינה ed. Zuck. (Var. החרח׳). Pes. II, 6, expl. ib. 39a, v. אצווא. - Pl. חרחבינין. Ib. בחרחלין ובח׳ ed. (Ms. M. 1 ובחרחבנין; Ms. M. 2 ובחרבנין), v. חרחלין. Ib. וכ׳ ובחרגינין ובחרבינין ed. (Ms. M. ובחרחבינה, v. חרחור m. (reduplic. of חור, v. חרר I) [point of a lance, v. Maim. to Kel. XIII, 3 ed. Dehr..] the coultter, inserted into the horizontal pole (מרדע) in front of the ploughshare (דרב). Kel. XIII, 3. Ib. XXV, 2, v. חוך. Tosef. ib. B. Mets. III, 7. Tosef. ib. B. Bath. III, 5.
חרחור ,, חר׳ m. (חרחר) burnt part of a loaf, burnt crust. Teb. Yom I, 3, sq. Cmp. הרוכא.
חרחורא m. (preced.; =b. h. חרחר) 1) fever. Targ. O. Deut. XXVIII, 22. -- 2) (cmp. הרהר) heated imagination, fantasy, delirium. Pl. constr. חרחורי. Targ. Y. Deut. l. c. דלוחי ח׳ (some ed. ה׳) the frightful fantasies of &c.
חרחלין m. pl. (redupl. of חרל, v. חרול) a prickly plant, thistle, (v. Sm. Ant. s. v. Carduus). Pes. 39a בח׳ וכ׳ ובחרחבינין (you may use for bitter herb) thistles, palm- ivy &c.
חרחר ,, חר חר (onompatop.) harhar, a word in an incantation for choking. Sabb. 67a בלע נחית ח׳ Ar. (ed. חד חד, Ms. O. both versions combined, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 90) h., go down swallowed thing.
חרחר (h. h.; Pilp. of חרר III) 1) to set twigs on fire for driving out the bees. bkts. III, 11 משיחרחר from the moment he smokes the bees out; [Maim.; he heats the honey-comb; Var. in Ar.] משיהרהר]. -- 2) (sub. ריב) to stir up strife. Cant. R. to VIII, 13 זה עם זה תחרחרו ולא do not quarrel with one another. -- 3) to make hot with fever. Lev. R. s. 17, v. הרהר. [Y. Kidd. I 58c top מוזהרין ממחרחרין, a cacography of מוזהרין; in ed. Amst. only מוזהרין.]

חרט (b. h.) to scrape; to chisel. Tanh. Ki Thissa 14 below the Israelites were sitting וכ׳ העגל את חורטין phiselling the calf . . ., and above the Lord engraving ghe tablets. Hif. החריט to model. Pirke d'R. Kl. ch. III אינ אם וכ׳ יסודותיו . . מחריט unless he models . .. its foundations and its entrances and exits, he does not begin to build. Ib. וכ׳ לפניו ה׳ הקב״ה the Lord modelled before Him the world, but it would not stand. Hithpa. התחרט [to scrattch one's settת] to regret, feel sorry. Hag. 5a בו ומתחרט and feels sorry for it. Nidd. 31b מתחרטת she regrets (her vow of abstinence); a. fr. V. חרטה.
חרט ch. same, to regret. Targ. Cant. V, 4 למחרט to repent. -- Pes. 113a ותחרט, v. זבן.
חרטה f. (preced. wds.) regret, esp. the expression, before a court, of regret for a vmw made under misap- prehension. Nidd. 31b מילתא תליא ובח׳ and the case is dependent on a formal declaration (and decision by a. court). Ned. 8b אשתו לחרטת שליח a deputy to declare his wife's regret (and procure absolution). Ib. 77b פותחין בח׳ the court begins with suggesting reasons for regret;
חרטום m. (b. h. pl. חרטבים; חרט; prob. an adapt.of the Egyptian her-tum) charmer, magician. -- Pl. חרטומים. Ex. R. s. 10. Num. R. s. 18 העולם חרטומי כל all the magicians of the worrld; a. fr. - Tanh. Sh'moth. 11 חרטומין (הרטמי, sub. מעשי) deceptions.
חרטום m. (חטם, with ר inserted)=חוטם, nose, beak. Toh. I, 2. Sifra Ahare, Par. 8, ch. XII וכ׳ לח׳ פרט except the beak, the nails, feathers &c. [Tam. IV, 3 Ar. (ed. חוטמו) the nostrils.]
חרטומא ch. same, esp. (v. חוטם 4) the knotted straps of the shoe.Lam. R. to I,1רבתי (מאת חד 8) איפסיקקח׳דסנדליה Ar. (ed. סנד׳ חד) the straps of his sandal were broken.

חרי, חרה (b. h.) to be hot, to glow. Yalk. Sam. 158 וכ׳ אפו ח׳ His anger is enkindled &c., v. אפילון. Pi. חרה to ignite, stir. Midr. Till. to Ps. XVIII, 8 אפו מחרה He stirs up His anger.
חרי, חרא ch. same. Targ. Ps. LVII, 5 חריא Lev. (ed. Lag. חיירא, oth. ed. חירא rr. חור; Ms. דיירא, v. דור ch.; ed. wil. חדיא, corr. acc.). [Targ. Provv. XVII, 24 חדין, quot. in Luzz. Philox. p. 106, glowing (with wis- dom).]-- [Gitt. 69a לכלבא וליחרו, v. נחר.] Pa. חרי to stir, rake. Ab. Zar. 38b וחרי ישראל ואתאא חרורי Ar. (prob. חרויי; ed. חתויי בה וחתה) and raked the fire. Hag. 5a top תנורא ומחריא and raked the fire in the oven (Rashi; out of the oven).
