סגירה f. (סגר) 1)closing in, use of the root סגר. Mekh. B'shall. s. 1. - 2) enclosure. Num. R. s. 13 לסגירת משלימים וכ׳ האהל completing the enclosure of the Tabernacle on its sides and that of the court from all sides.

סגל, Pi. סיגל (Safel of גלל) [to heap up,] to lay by, save; to treasure as a relic. Y. B. Bath. IX, 17a top בן לעצמו ס׳ שס׳ מה . . . חלוק שנראה if a son appears to have kept a separate household during his father's life- time; what he has saved (of what he took out for his private expenses), he has saved for himself (does not belong to the estate). Lam. R. to I, 17 וכ׳ וקנה וס׳ עמד he made an effort and economized and bought himself sheep. Tanh. Emor, ed. Bub., 30 וכ׳ עונות מסגלין they accumulate sins during the whole year. Gen. R. s. 9 . . כלום וכ׳ מצצות נסגל אנו . . מסגלין the righteous live because they lay by good deeds, we shall likewise lay by good deeds (in order to live). Koh. סגל ch. to be round, v. next wds. - [Targ. Ps. XLI, 4 יסגל Ms., read as in ed. יתגלי, v. Ned. 40a.] Pa. סגל to lay by, save. Midr. Till. to Ps. VII מה כל נסבא את מסגל דאכא whatever I may save, thou shalt have; [read] דסגלית מה כל אינון הן where is all that I have saved?; Yalk. Gen. 56 (not סגילות).

סגן m. (b. h. pl. סגנים; v. סגי I; cmp. רב) grandee, chie, vviceroy. Midr. Till. to Ps. CXIX, 134 אין . . . כלי וכ׳ דשות לס׳ the viceroy is not permitted to use a vessel which thrking has used. -[Num. R. s. 15; Tanb. Bhaal. 11 ס׳ למחר, v. פגן.] - Esp. הכהנים סגן or הס׳ the chief of the priests, adnutant high priest. Ab. III, 2. Yomna III, 9. Y. ib.
