סהר c. (b. h.; cmp. סחר) 1) an enclosed place, esp. the enclosure for cattle near a dwelling; stable. Erub. II, 3 (18a; Mish. a. Ms. M. everywhere סהר). Ib. 22a; Y. b. IV, 21d bot.; Tosef. ib. III (II), 9. Tosef. Sabb. XIXI), 1. Shebi. III, 4 וכ׳ ס׳ עושה may put up (in the field) an enclosure covering an area of &c.; Tosef. ib. II, 15. Ib. 16 שהר; a. fr. - Tanh. Ki Thissa 2 (play on הסהר,Cant. VII, 3) ׳yו לסוחר שדומה הס׳ (the meeting place of the Sanhedrin is called)hassahar, because it resembles a merchant's store. -- 2) (cmp. next w.) moon. Ib. ed. Bub. 1 הירח כחצי הס׳ אגן agan hassahar means, like a half-moon (the semicircular seats of the Sanhedrin), v. פתרון I - Pl. סהרים, סהרין. Tosef. Shebi. II, 19; Y. ib. III, 34c bot. סיהרין (corr. acc.). - Tosef. Dem. VI, 11 וכ׳ שבליס שהרי הביא (ש) זה if one brought (into the partnership) stores of ears of his own crop &אc. m. e.
סהרא, סהרה m. ch. (סהר =זהר) light, esp. moon- light. Cant. R. to VII, 3, v. זהרא I. Ber. 53a ס׳ דאיכא (Ms. . סיהרא) when there is moonshine. -- V. סיהרא.
סהרון m., pl. סהרונים (b. h. שהרנים; preced.; cmp. זהורית) crismmson (or safron) colored ribbons. Y. Sot. IX, 24c top בהן תלויין זהב וסהרוני with gold-embroidered ribbons hanging thereon (Tosef. ib. XV, 9 מוזהבות זהוריות); [oth. opin.; moon-shaped ornaments of gold].

סואר, סוואר, סוור m. (dial. for צואר; צבר=סור; v. Maim. to Ohol. III, 7 ed. Dehr.) a pile of joists, frame. Ohol. III, 7קורות של ס׳ (ed. Dehr. צוואר, in comment. צוור, Var. צבר); Succ. 20b (Ms. M. סוואר); Y. Sabb. IV, 7a top צבר. Bets. 31b וכ׳ הס׳ מן לא עצים מבקעין אין we must not chop (on the Holy Day, for immediate use) wood from a. pile of joists (intended for building purposes), v. מוכן. -- Tosef. Kel. B. Mets. V, 4 וכ׳ הפרוס נחתומין של ס׳ (R. S. to Kel. XV, 2 סרוד) the baker's frame when it is plain (without rims) is unclean, because dough is cut and carried to the stove on it. -- V. סור.
סוב (sec. r. of סבב), Pa. סייב [to go all around,] to finish up, trim. Gen. R. s. 78 (a proverbial expression) סייבת שייצת hast thou finished? hast thou trimmed (so as to be entifled to wages)?; Yalk. ib. 133 סייפת.

סובב m. (סבב) ring, hoop. Kel. XI, 3, a. e. גלגל של ס׳ the iron hoop of a wheel. - Esp. הס׳ the Sobeb, a sort of gallery around the altar for the priest to walk on. Midd. III, 1 הס׳ זה there (at five cubits from the bottom) the Sobeb was attached. Zeb. V, 3; a. fr.

סובין m. pl. =סובבין (סבב) galleries. Tosef. Kel. B. Mets. II, 8 [readנ] שלהן והסטיוין הס׳ (v. סטיו) the galleries and colonnades on turrets (v. אקונבי).
סובין m. pl. (preced.; cmp. הדראה) flour of thc second course, braneour (difer. fr. מורסן). Keth. 112a; Y. Sot. I, 17b, a. e. - B. Bath. 98b (from Ben Sira) מס׳ קל . . . הכל וכ׳ מ׳ וקל I -have weighed everything . . . , and found nothing lighter than bran, but lighter (in mind) than bran is &c.; a. fr. - Sing. סוב, with suffix סובן. Hall. II, 6. Sabb. VII, 4 (76b).
סובך m. (סבך) [thicket,; the fleshy part of the leg, calf. Hull. X, 4. Y. Yeb. XII, 12c bot.; Tosef. Yad. II, 1 הס׳ עד ברגל he must. wash his feet up to where the calf begins.

סוג I (b. h.) [to cut of, separate,] to fence in, mark of. Y. Ab. Zar. IV, 46, sq. וכ׳ סג שהוא כל any stone that. is put up to mark the sea-shore or the roads. Y. M. Kat. I,80a וכ׳ סגה שהיא פירצה a fence which, though broken, still bars the ground behind it (from falling out); Y. Shebi. III, end, 34a; a. e. -- Trnsf. (v. סיג a. גדר) to guard against trespassing a laaw, to make a prohibition more restrictive; to exaggerate. Ab. d'R. N. ch. I לדבריו . .. שסג סייג (v. ed. Schechter) the guard which Adam set to his words (by adding the prohibition to touch the tree of knowledge). Ib. וכ׳ לדבריו אדכ סג אם if a person exaggerates his words, he cannot abide by them.
