סס m. (b. h.) moth, worm. Yoma 9b הסס מן מגור ארז Ms. L. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 200) a cedar sawed out by the worm, v. ססמגור.

ססגונא, ססגוו׳ m. (comp. of סס, v. סוס a. שוש. a. זונא) [of glistening color,] sasgona, sasg'vana (Chald. rendition of תחש) 1) name of an animal tthe skin of which was used for covering the Tabernacle. Targ. Ex. XXV, 5. Ib. XXVI, 14 (Y. ססגוו׳); a. e. - Sabb. 28a דמתרגמינן היינו הרבה בגוונין שסס ס׳ Ar. (ed. ששש) that is the reason why we ttranslate (taash) with sasgona, because it glistened with may colors. - 2) name of a color, scarlet (v. P. Sm. 2682). Targ. Cant. VII, 2 דס׳ סנדלין (not דססוגינא) scarlet shoes (cmp. Ez. XVI, 10).
ססגוניתא f. (preced.) uratic stone (from its color;; Ar. colored spots on the skin). Yeb. 64b Ar. (ed. ססוסכינתא).
*ססמגור m. (supposed to be a comp. of סס a. מגור, cmp. מגרה) [a saawing worm,] name of a species of cedar subject to decay. Yoma 9b [read בו שולט שהרקב ארז מאי ס׳ . . what is the cedar over which decay has power? . . .. Sasmagor (Ms. LL. omits our w., and has only the explan-- ation of it; הסס מן מגיר ארז, v. סס; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 00). [To the following ס׳ מאי what is S. ?, tthe reply הסס מן מגור אר has obviously fallen out, whereas the subsequent קול בת אבא ר׳ אמר resumes the discussion interrupted by וכ׳ ארז מאי -different in comment.]]
סעד(b. h., Saf ofעוד, cmpסהד) 1) to support,strengthen. Lam. R. to II, 2; Y. Taan. IV, 68d bot.. ודiתסע לא, v. סכף. Midr. ill. to Ps. XLI, 3 ומעמידו סועדו אני I will strengthen and raisehim (from his sick-bed); a. fr. - 2) (with or without לב) to satisfy the appetite, to satiate. Ib. to Ps. CtV, 15 סועד הלחם (ed. Bub. לבב) bread satiates, v. מזוניתא. Yalk. Lev. 675 (ref. to Lev. XXVI, 26) לחם סועדי כל לרבות (r. a. noun סיעד) this include all supports by bread (all sub stitutes of food); Sifra B'huck. Par. 2, ch. VI מסעדי or מסעדי. - 3) (denom. of סעודה) to dine. Hull. 7bסעוד רצונך אצלי please dine with me. Erub. 53b סועד אינך מדוע why dost thou not eat?; וכ׳ סעדתי כבר I have had my meal in daytime; a. fr. -- Sabb. 62b היום סעדת במה what did you dine on to-day? סעד m. (preced.) support, auxiliary. Tosef. Snh. II, 4 לשנה ס׳ אותן עושין we consider each of these circumstances an auxiliary reason for intercalation; Snh. 11a; Y. ib. I, 18 top (corr. acc.).

סעדתא f (preced. wds.) sustenance, comfort. Gen. R. s. 48 quot. in Rashi to Gen. XVIII, 5 (ed. מזוניתא).
