צבת m. (b. h.; preced.) couple, pair, set. Tosef Ab. Zar. III (IV), 8 הראשון בצ׳ of the first pair (of T'llin); Erub. 97a; a. e. -- Pl. צבתים. Ib. X, 1צ׳ מצאן iff he found the T'fillin arranged in sets; expl. ib. 97a, v. זווא I. Men. X, 9 ( 1a) צ׳ מניחחן (Talm. ed. צבותים, v. Rabb. D. (ed. וכ׳ מתעביד בצ׳ צ׳) our tongs are made with the help of tongs; who made the first tongs? There- fore the first tongs must have been a natural object; Tosof. Erub. XI (VIII), 23 (v. לאי); Tosef.
