MURRAY. (Lieutenant, 1847.)

George Don Murray is a relation, we believe, of Lord Elibank.

This officer, while serving as Midshipman of the North Star 26, Capt. Sir Jas. Everard Home, commanded a subdivision of seamen, and was severely wounded, in an attack made in Jan. 1846 on a pah belonging to a rebel chief named Kawiti, at Ruapikapika, in New Zealand, which was assaulted and carried in a most gallant manner, after a severe action of four hours.[1] As a reward for his conduct he was presented, as soon as he had passed his examination, with a commission dated 9 Nov. 1847. He has been employed, since 10 of the following Dec, in the Prince Regent 90, Capt. Wm. Fanshawe Martin.
