Mother of men, who long ago
Thy leadership had won—
Mother, whom best thy children know
When their days with thee are done;
Eager a part of our debt to pay

Blue is the heav'nly hue that shows
When a cloud above us parts;
Red is the tint of the tide that flows,
The life-blood of our hearts,

Pennsylvania! glorious name!
Thy brows with laurel bound
Never shall know the touch of shame,
