Courtenay, William, s. Henry Reginald, bishop of Bristol. Christ Church, matric. 18 June, 1794, aged 16; B.A. 1798, M.A. 1801, created D.C.L. 7 June, 1837, then 10th Earl of Devon, and high steward of the University, bar.-at-law, Lincoln's Inn, 1799, sometime assistant-clerk of the Parliaments, patentee of the Subpœna Office, and commissioner of bankrupts, master in Chancery 1817. M.P. Exeter 1812-26, died 19th March, 1859. See Alumni West., 440.
