Murray, General Sir George, G.G.B., G.C.H., created D.C.L. 14 June, 1820 (son of Sir William Murray, of Ochtertyre, Bart.), P.C colonel 1st royals 1843, served in Flanders 1793, Holland 1799, and Egypt 1800, and in Spain and Portugal under Sir John Moore, nominated G.C.B. 11 Sep., 1813, installed 1821, M.P. Perthshire 1824-33. (May) 1834-5, F.R.S. 1824, secretary of state for Colonies 1828, master-general of the ordnance 1834-5, etc., colonel 42nd foot 1823-43, died 28 July, 1846.
