Trinity Coll., matric. 12 Oct., 1749, aged 17; created M.A. 21 March, 1750, D.C.L. by diploma 10 Oct., 1772, 2nd Earl of Guilford, K.G., M.P. Banbury 1754-90, chancellor of the Exchequer 1769, first lord of the Treasury 1770, etc., chancellor of the University 1772, died 5 Aug., 1792. See Foster's Peerage.
