Kitty May Ellis
(1869–1963)

Kitty May Ellis (1869 – 1963) was an American pioneer and diarist in the Pacific Northwest. She is one of the few primary narrative sources for early life in Spokane, Washington, Prospect, Oregon and Clearview, Washington. After her death, it was discovered that she had created a diary of hundreds of ledgers. These are being published in stages by the Clearview Genealogical Society as The Diary of Miss Kitty May Ellis. Since Kitty had no known living relatives, her diaries were gifted to certain individuals in the community of Clearview. The transcriber is the current caretaker of those diaries, and as such, copyright vests in this function. These diaries are transcribed from the original manuscripts, which were writen in quill pen on ledger pads, each of 70 to 100 pages.
