AVE VERUM.
Hail, true body born, to suffer,
Of the blessed Virgin's womb,
Who upon the cross didst offer
Man's hilastic hecatomb;
Wounded heart whence flowing over
Mystic blood and water come.
Comfort to our souls recover
In the hour of death and gloom.
Merciful and gentle One
Jesu, Mary's blessed Son.
