CARTOON PORTRAITS
AND
Biographical Sketches
OF
MEN OF THE DAY.
THE DRAWINGS BY FREDERICK WADDY.
LONDON:
TINSLEY BROTHERS, 18 CATHERINE STREET, STRAND.
1873.
NOTE.
With one exception, the likeness in profile of Lord Lytton, the Cartoon Portraits of Men of the Day—for the most part those of literary celebrities—comprised in this volume have appeared during the past year as illustrations in 'Once a Week.' Biographical sketches accompanied the cartoons in the pages of the magazine; and in collecting and republishing the portraits in a separate and more permanent form, it has not been thought necessary to make any material alterations in the notices that originally accompanied them.
