The title text is strictly false. There are many works with unknown translators, including many published in the United States prior to 1923 (PD-US) and even published prior to 1808, which would make it quite obviously PD-OLD.--Prosfilaes (talk) 16:26, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- I havent seen any of these yet, as good translations usually push the translator into prominence, and bad translations are often lost (or not digitised).
- When we do have a translation which is known to be PD yet the translator is not known, we will need some better naming.
- We could use "missing" translator to refer to cases where the translator has not been investigated/identified. Then "unknown" could be used when the translator is known to be not known.
