PUTNAM, WILLIAM LE BARON, an American jurist; born in Bath, Me., May 26, 1835; was a member of a commission to arrange with the British government the rights of American fishermen in Canadian waters in 1887; served also as a commissioner under the treaty of Feb. 8, 1896, between the United States and Great Britain; and was appointed a judge of the United States Circuit Court in 1892. Died 1918.
