Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on Repealing Relevant Provisions of Law on Custody and Education and the Custody and Education System
(Adopted at the 15th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Thirteenth National People's Congress on December 28, 2019)
At its 15th Meeting, the Standing Committee of the Thirteenth National People's Congress has decided as follows:
1. The second and fourth paragraphs of Article 4 of the Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on Prohibiting Prostitution and Whoring are repealed, and the custody and education system based thereon is abolished.
2. The decisions on imposing custody and education that were made according to law prior to the abolition of the custody and education system shall remain effective. After the system is abolished, the persons who are under custody and education according to law shall be released, and their remaining terms shall no longer be executed.
This Decision shall go into effect as of December 29, 2019.
