Act

To amend the South Africa Act, 1909, and to validate the appointment of certain deputy-administrators.

Be it enacted by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate and the House of Assembly of the Union of South Africa, as follows:―


Amendment of section 68 of the South Africa Act, 1909.

1. Section sixty-eight of the South Africa Act, 1909, is hereby amended by the addition at the end of sub-section (4) of the words “or while the appointment of an administrator for the province concerned is pending.”.


Validation of appointment of certain deputy-administrators.

2. The appointment prior to the commencement of this Act of a deputy-administrator to execute the office and functions of the administrator of a province while the appointment of an administrator for that province was pending, is hereby validated, and shall be deemed to have been valid as from the date of the said appointment.


Short title.

3. This Act shall be called the Deputy-Administrators Act, 1949.
