The several reservations for the military post of Fort William H. Seward, on Chilkat Inlet, Alaska, declared by Executive Order dated December 31, 1898 (G. O. No. 6, A. G. O., January 14, 1899), by Executive Order dated November 21, 1902 (G. O. No. 124. A. G. O., December 10, 1902), and by Executive Order dated November 27, 1905 (G. O. No. 204, War Department, December 6, 1905), having been inaccurately described, the said Executive Orders are hereby modified so as to reserve for military purposes, subject to private rights, if any there be, all public lands, and those only, within metes and bounds described as follows, viz:


Main Reserve: Beginning at a lead plug in a granite boulder situated on high-tide line, near the present black-smith shop at Fort William H. Seward, Alaska; Latitude 59° 13′ 37″; Longitude 135° 26′ 37″; thence N. 31° 56′ W. 260.2 feet, to an iron pipe 1.5 inches in diameter, driven on high-tide line, marked U. S. M. R. Cor. “A”; thence S. 44° 02′ W. 311 feet, to an iron pipe 1.5 inches in diameter, marked U. S. M. R. Cor. “B”, and bearing S. 89° 33′ W. 353.7 feet from the point of beginning; thence S. 89° 33' W. 4874.3 feet, to a granite stone marked U. S. M. R. Cor. “E” in a pile of rocks at the north foot of a spruce tree 30 inches in diameter; thence S. 0° 41′ E. 1641 feet to a granite monument 8 inches square and 30 inches high, marked U. S. M. R. Cor. “3”, situated at high-tide line on Chilkat Inlet (this monument bears N. 11° 43′ W. 10842 feet from the U. S. C. & G. monument on Pyramid Island); thence meandering southeasterly along the high-tide line to a granite monument 8 inches square, 26 inches high, marked U. S. M. R. Cor. “4”, bearing S. 40° 15′ E. 18881 feet from said Corner “3”; thence S. 89° 49′ E. 10028 feet, more or less, to a granite monument 8 inches square and 28 inches high, marked U. S. M. R. Cor. “5”, situated on high-tide line on the shore of Chilkoot Inlet; thence meandering northerly and westerly along high-tide line to the point of beginning, which bears N. 46° 20′ W. 23432 feet from Corner “5”; containing an area of approximately 4410 acres. The bearings are true. Variation, at point of beginning, 31° East.


Clay Reserve: Beginning at a granite stone, marked on top with a cross, bearing N. 80° 56′ W. 4638.7 feet from U. S. C. & G. monument, situated under the south edge of Lucas & Bries Saloon in the town of Haines, Alaska; thence S. 80° 56′ E. 500 feet to a stone marked on top with a cross; thence N. 9° 4′ E. 500 feet to a stone marked on top with a cross; thence N. 80° 56′ W. 500 feet to a stone marked on top with a cross; and thence S. 9° 4′ W. 500 feet to the point of beginning. Area: 5.74 acres. The bearings are true.


Water Reserve: Beginning at a point on the west shore of Chilkat Inlet, marked by a hole drilled in the south end of a granite boulder, the exposed portion of which is approximately 2 feet wide and 4 feet long; which point bears S. 47° 53′ W. 11043 feet from the granite monument on the east shore of said Inlet, marked Cor. “3” of the Main Reserve; and from which the U. S. C. & G. monument on Pyramid Island bears S. 10° 5′ E.; thence meandering northwesterly along the high-tide line to a hole drilled in the south end of a detached rock, which is approximately 15 feet wide, 30 feet long and 16 feet high; and bearing N. 48° 12′ W., 8578 feet from the point of beginning; thence S. 41° 7′ W. to the summit of the ridge determining the boundary line of the watershed tributary to the stream flowing into Chilkat Inlet about 3 miles northwesterly from Pyramid Harbor; thence following said boundary line in a westerly, southerly, easterly, and northerly direction to its intersection with a line bearing S. 54° 09′ W. from the point of beginning; and thence N. 54° 09′ E. to the point of beginning. The bearings are true.
