The following-described tract of public land, lying on the glacial flats of Valdez Glacier and the mountain side to the west, and situated north of the town of Valdez, in the Territory of Alaska, is hereby reserved from sale or other disposition, subject to private rights, if any there be, and set apart for a target range for the use of the troops of Fort Liscum, Alaska, viz:


That tract of land included within metes and bounds as follows:

Beginning at Corner No. 1, which is a stone post set in the ground and marked "U. S. M. R. Cor. 1," and situated about 75 feet from the base of the mountain on the west side of the glacier moraine and about 1 mile from the base of said glacier; thence S. 48° 49′ W. a distance of 6,100 feet to Corner No. 2, which is a stone post set in the ground and marked "U. S. M. R. Cor. 2;" thence due west a distance of 5,347 feet to Corner No. 3; said corner being a stone post set in the ground and marked "S. 245 Cor. 3;" said monument being the northwest corner of a tract surveyed by A. Judson Adams, of Valdez, Alaska; this course being the southern boundary of the proposed reservation, and is a prolongation of the northern boundary of claim marked "S. 245;" thence north, following the eastern boundaries of claims marked "S. 457" and "S. 244," also surveyed by said Adams, and the continuation of said boundaries up the side of the mountain to its crest, a distance of approximately 9,280 feet from Corner No. 3, to Corner No. 4; thence following the crest of the mountain in a generally easterly direction to top of the first peak west of Valdez Glacier, from which point Corner No. 1 bears S. 33° 00′ E; thence S. 33° 00′ E. down the side of the mountain to the place of beginning; said tract containing 1,700 acres, more or less. The bearings are true.
