Illustrator W B (William Barnes) Wollen; Publishers: Smith, elder & Co., London. The illustrations were first published in the serial, "The Adventures of Etienne Gerard in The Strand Magazine between 1902-03, and in book form in 1903. [Caption: "With one impulse the twelve swords flew from their scabbards and were raised in salute"] Note: text has been cropped out, and minor image editing done to make image clearer.
