English: Drawing by William Alexander, draughtsman of the Macartney Embassy to China in 1793. Chinese gamblers with fighting quails. The figure smoking a pipe, holds in his hand some Chinese money threaded on a string; the man with a feather behind his cap is betting with him. Image taken from The Costume of China, illustrated in forty-eight coloured engravings, published in London in 1805.
