Trio of American Fliers to Aid Spanish Loyalists. Acosta, Eddie Schneider and Major Lord Arrive at Valencia. New York, November 20, 1936 (Associated Press) A cable received here today by friends told that Bert Acosta, daredevil aviator, and two other American fliers arrived today in Valencia, Spain, on their way to aid Spanish loyalist forces at Madrid. Acosta's companions were said to be Eddie Schneider, holder of many flying trophies and former manager of a Jersey City, N. J., airport, and Major Fred A. Lord of Houston, Tex., credited with having shot down 22 German planes while serving in the British Air Corps in the World War. Acosta was one of the participants in the Byrd transatlantic flight in 1927.
