Author Ernest Clegg (1876 – ?) (This illustration was first published in the US. The artist was British-born, best known as a cartographer, and was still alive in 1947. He was working from a studio in New York in 1922. He was also teaching illumination at the School of Craftsmen in New York in the same year and gave a lecture on the history of handwriting at the American Institute of Graphic Arts.)
