English: Second World War. German, photographic flash-bomb. 8 in. in diameter, 3 ft. 6 in. long and the fins project about 1 in. The outer casing is painted grey and is of thin sheet steel terminating in a heavy iron casting at the nose, which is flat and has in it four circular pockets or recesses about 2 in. in diameter and 3 in. deep. Civil Defence Training Pamphlet No 2: Objects Dropped From The Air (3rd Edition). Issued by the Ministry of Home Security. This training pamphlet described some of the objects which could be found on the ground after and air-raid, including certain items which, though not of enemy origin, may be mistaken for hostile weapons, and others that may drop from the air at any time.
