Spaces around dashes edit

Do we leave spaces (before and) after mdashes, like on this page? - Dick Bos (talk) 14:39, 20 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

I say after mdash, yes, but before mdash, no. Like this. Moondyne (talk) 14:49, 20 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
The standard is to not leave spaces before or after a dash so I haven't been leaving any. The Haz talk 21:31, 24 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
So what's the conclusion? Spaces or no spaces? I was proofreading page 236, and in this sentence "—Perhaps you can tell me—he said—why he pours his soul so freely into my ear. Can you?—" what do you suggest should the spacings be (both before and after) for the four em-dashes? --Siddhant (talk) 07:27, 28 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
No spaces looks fine. I'll do likewise. Moondyne (talk) 11:53, 28 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

= Hyphens edit

In a couple of places I found that hyphens are used, whilst the scanned text doesn't have one. For instance in the first line of this page. Until now I have removed the hyphens. Is that correct? That's my first question.

Next question: what about the "red(-)eyed mother" on this page ? - Dick Bos (talk) 21:02, 4 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

More fixes needed edit

In this book, there are 2126 "—" but also 20 "–", all on pages 215 to 218. There are also 20 "’" among 732 "'". Мишоко (talk) 09:21, 30 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
