Formatting Guidelines edit

1. Centering Poem Title: Enclosed the title in {{center| }}.

2. Centering Poem: Wrap the <poem>...</poem> tags in {{center block| }}, e.g.:

{{center block| <poem> [Body of poem] </poem> }}

3. Poem Body: Enclose the body of the poem in <poem>...</poem>.

4. Indented Lines: To create regular indented lines within <poem>...</poem>, place a colon (:) at the start of indented lines.

5. Special Indentation: Special indentation can normally be managed with {{gap|#em}}, where # is a number value that can be varied to change the depth of the indentation.

6. Poet's Signature: Use {{center| }} author's signature (usually after the poem).

7. Underlining: Use {{ul| }} for underlined words/phrases.

8. Illegible Text: For illegible text, use {{illegible}}.

9. Portrait Page Captions: Use {{center| }} to center the caption, add a line space after the poet's name, and then, on a new line, enclose the descriptive text in {{smaller| }}. If the descriptive text runs over more than one line, use <br/> to add a line break.

10. Put {{nop}} at the end of all pages.

For number 6, {{ul}} or <span style="text-decoration:underline;">...</span> would be far preferable. In HTML5, the <u> tag "represents a span of text with an unarticulated, though explicitly rendered, non-textual annotation", which is not the case here. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 04:46, 6 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I've revised the Guidelines to incorporate this suggestion. Jason Boyd (talk) 20:25, 15 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
