Title page

I did the title page to look like the original... Page:Marie_de_France_Lays_Mason.djvu/9 I know it isn't always common practice around here, but it seems to look fairly nice. HTML rendering on WS with varied text sizes leaves something to be desired. Any suggestions when doing this or comments regarding how it looks? --Mkoyle (talk) 23:23, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi Mkoyle! I admire your skills with Marie de France Lays title page. Very nice work indeed. Can you imagine something like that, but different, for the text in the Main space?

We do have the rights to copy the text which is old enough, but we might not have the rights to copy the modern part of the editor's work and his logo, or is this work old enough too? Perhaps the editor would authorize that we make his logo advertized because it is his interest, but I have not checked what we may or may not publish. Shucks-- it looks like they may have started adding that particular anchor logo after 1922. They used a similar logo earlier, but I just can't find any books from pre 1922 with the logo to see what year copyright on that would be. Chances are it will have to go. The same goes for the text on the covers, unless it was on the 1911 version, too. --Mkoyle (talk) 18:34, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Not particularly important, but I believe the text at the bottom of this page is No. 557 (and not 55J)... anyone with more knowledge of older typefaces have an opinion? I changed it to 557. --Mkoyle (talk) 01:37, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
