סבא III (b. h.; cmp. שבע) to drink freely. - Part. pass. סבוא, pl. סבואים, סבואין soaked, satiated. Nidd. 24b ס׳ עצמותיו Ar. (ed. סכויין) his bones are found satiated with moisture, i. e. porots, contrad. to משוחין oily, smooth.

Bath. 98a לסבוייה אדעתא with the intention to retail it. Af. אססבא to satiate, soak; trnsf. (cmp. ספג) to lash. Keth. 10a כופרי אסבוהו make him absorb (strike him with) palm switches. Ib. וכ׳ ליה ומסבינן and we lash him nevertheless.
סבב (b. h.) to go around, turn. Num. R. s. 18 כשהייתי וכ׳ כל וסוכב והולך . . when I travelled ... and went around all the towns; וכ׳ מעיר והולך סובב הייתי I went around from town to town. Erub. 56a בלילה צפוון אל וסובב 'and turns northward (Koh. I, 6) by night; a. e. Nif. נסב to take a turn. Num. R. s. 4למעלה ורחבה ונסבה it turned upward and became wider. Pi. סיבב 1) to surround.
