שום II m. (preced.) 1) valuation, estimate. B. Kam. I, 3 כסף ש׳, v. שוה. Tosef. B. Mets. IX, 9 אאת.. . קמתו השם וכ׳ שומו if one prizes (and buys) his neighbor's standing corn as ten Cors of wheat, and it yields less or more, the seller has to deliver the estimated quantity (no more nor less); Rabbi Judah says, וכ׳ שומו את לו נותן בפחות עשה if it yielded less, he has to deliver the estimated quantity, if more, he has to deliver whatever it yielded; a. fr. -- Esp. the description and valuation of seieed property and its advertisement for public sale. Arakh..VI, 1היתומים נש׳ יום שלשים the advertisement of orphans property must be made thirty days in succession (before the sale); Tosef. ib. IV, 1. Tosef. Keth. XI, 2; B.
