Keep the two pieces of the pattern together at the bust-line; lap the lower edge the desired amount which will spread the armhole. (See Fig. 100.) Many of the new basque waists have the fullness taken out in pleats at the underarm seam. To do this, slash the pattern parallel to the center-front as far as the bust-line.
